Online ping test
Ping a server, router or IP address from the internet and see whether it replies, the packet loss and the round-trip times.
Good to know
- No reply. Is the server down?
- Not necessarily. Many cloud providers and firewalls block ping (ICMP) by default. If a website or service runs on the host, the open port checker is a better test.
- What's a good ping time?
- It depends on distance. Under 50 ms is typical within a region, 100–250 ms across continents. A sudden rise usually means congestion or a changed route.
- Monitor it around the clock
- Spot Downtime's ping monitors send pings on a schedule and alert you when a host stops replying.
Get told the moment it breaks
Checking by hand only tells you about right now. Spot Downtime checks your sites around the clock and alerts you by email, Slack or Discord.
