MX record lookup
See which servers receive email for a domain, in the order senders try them, and which email provider they belong to.
Good to know
- What do the priority numbers mean?
- Senders try the lowest number first. Servers with higher numbers are backups, used when the first can't be reached.
- Email stopped arriving after a DNS change
- Check the MX records still point at your email provider, and that each mail server name resolves. Moving name servers without copying the MX records is a common cause.
- What's a null MX?
- A single MX record pointing to “.” says on purpose that the domain receives no email, so senders fail straight away instead of retrying.
