IP & reverse DNS lookup
Enter an IP address or a hostname to see its reverse DNS name and which network and organisation it belongs to.
Good to know
- What's reverse DNS?
- A PTR record maps an IP address back to a hostname. Mail servers need one that matches, or their email is often rejected as spam.
- Can it show where a person is?
- No. It shows the network that owns the address, usually an ISP, hosting company or cloud provider, not a street address.
- Where does the network data come from?
- From the regional internet registries (ARIN, RIPE, APNIC, LACNIC, AFRINIC), which hand out IP address blocks.
