DNS propagation checker
Changed a DNS record? See what 12 public DNS resolvers return right now, to tell whether the change has reached everyone.
Good to know
- How long does DNS propagation take?
- Usually minutes, sometimes up to a day or two. Resolvers keep an old answer until its TTL (time to live) runs out, so the old TTL decides how long a change takes. Lower the TTL a day before a planned change.
- Why do some resolvers show the old value?
- They answered from their cache before the record changed and will refresh it once the TTL expires. Clearing your own computer's DNS cache doesn't affect them.
- Get told when a record changes
- Spot Downtime's DNS monitors check a record around the clock and alert you if it changes or disappears.
